More than 5,400 Indian students have been awarded loan scholarships from the JN Tata Endowment since 1892, when it was established by Tata Group promoter Jamsetji Nusarwanji. The endowment supports study abroad only – Masters, Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Fellowship, in any academic stream. Based on merit alone, it seeks to reward the “best and the brightest” to make them of the greatest service to the nation. The loan, up to a maximum of Rs 10 lakh, can be repaid within seven years and collected in five equal installments from the end of the third year.
