Indian Rail:- There is great news for senior citizens traveling by train. A special update has come out on the concession given by the Railways to senior citizens.

The concession given to senior citizens on train tickets can be restored once again. Men aged 60 years and above and women aged 58 years and above used to get huge discounts on train tickets from the Railways, which may be reintroduced.

The Committee urged that the Parliamentary Committee on Indian Railways urge the Government to restore the exemption on behalf of the Railways. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways, headed by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Radha Mohan Singh, has requested the Ministry of Railways to sympathetically consider restoring the concession given to senior citizens while traveling in trains.

According to the news agency PTI, the committee said that according to the information given by the Railways, the condition of Corona has become normal. The Committee had also expressed this desire in its 12th Action Taken Report (17th Lok Sabha) on Passenger Reservation System. It may be considered at least in Sleeper class and 3rd AC class so that vulnerable and really needy citizens can avail this facility.

Earlier, before March 2020, Railways used to give 50 per cent concession to women and 40 per cent to men for traveling by train in all classes in case of senior citizens. The minimum age limit for getting this exemption from the Railways was 58 years for elderly women and 60 years for men, but after the Corona period all the concessions given to them have been abolished.

The bill of pension and salary from the Railways has become very high. Along with this, Indian Railways had given a subsidy of Rs 59,000 crore for passenger related services.
